However to the animals at the shelter and our community . . .
a [vol-uh n-teer] is a larger than life individual of homo sapian decent who makes a positive difference in the life of a fellow manimal with every visit and every act of kindness no matter how large or small. thank you all SO VERY MUCH

Ways and Where to Volunteer:
The Shelter: Dog walking, socialization, feeding, cleaning, grooming, basic health care, training and obedience, adoption advocacy, mobile adoption assistance, or answering phones.
Foster Care Program: Special animals who need the kind and individual care found only in a home .
Project Specialist: Grant writing, donor data base, volunteer coordinator, and canine training.

as to why vonunteering is
SO IMPORTANT . . .
My name is Caroline. I have been a volunteer at the Animal Shelter in Friday Harbor since last summer.
I love coming here because I like to see the kittens, old cats, new cats, dogs and puppies. I enjoy seeing the dogs and cats get new homes, even though it is sad to see my favorite ones go. Part of why I love volunteering at the shelter is to give attention and love to the animals because they don't have homes like other cats and dogs do. If I could, I would take all of them home, but volunteering and getting to know them all is the next best thing.
I wish that all people who want to have cats and dogs would come to the shelter and adopt them instead of breeding more animals that might end up in the shelters....
